THE CHAMPIONSHIP
- The Millersville women's golf team sends a veteran squad with five tournament wins in the 2023-24 season to the 54-hole PSAC Championship, which will be held at Berkleigh Golf Club in Kutztown. The women's team is looking to replicate what the men's team did in October by winning the championship.
- Millersville tees off Friday in the second wave of golfers. The tee time for the lineup's No. 1 is 11:40 a.m. Millersville's No. 5 goes out at 12:12 p.m. The Marauders are paired with Mercyhurst and Kutztown in the opening round. Pairings for rounds two and three will be determined by team performance. Each day, the first tee time is 11 a.m., and the final tee time is 1:32 p.m.
- Gannon has won four consecutive PSAC Championships. The Golden Knights are again the championship favorites, ranked seventh in the NCAA East Region. The Golden Knights have played just four events in the spring after winning the final three events in the fall. Millersville has crossed paths with Gannon just twice. Both of those events were held in October in Erie, Pa., with Gannon winning by a wide margin. Gannon boasts a 310.6 scoring average. Mercyhurst is the closest PSAC team in that category at 334.7. West Chester comes in at 336.9 and Millersville is close behind with a 340.1. Millersville, however, has finished ahead of West Chester in four of six events this spring. The Marauders' scoring average has also been distorted because of consistently poor weather conditions in recent weeks.
- Millersville's lone PSAC Championship came in 2015, and since then, the Marauders have finished in the top half of the field four times, including each of the last three seasons. Charley Kirby, Emma Schotsch, Taylor Hileman and Amanda Wolf are set to play in their third consecutive PSAC Championship together. Schotsch was the team's top performer in 2022, finishing in 13th place. Hileman is the top returning finisher after placing 20th in 2023. Wolf has been the Marauders' top golfer in 2023-24 with eight top-10 finishes in her last nine events. Most recently, she finished as the runner-up at the ESU Spring Invitational in a field that included six PSAC teams. She also placed fifth at Iron Valley Golf Club in the Marauder Invitational earlier in April. Kirby has seven top-10 finishes since Oct. 12 and earned a medalist finish at the Millersville Women's Invitational on April 13. Schotsch has missed a handful of events with injuries, but her 84.7 scoring average is second on the team, and she won the Lebanon Valley Invitational in October. Hileman is coming off an eighth-place finish at the ESU Invitational.
