Pfeufer paces Marauders' start at PSAC Championship

KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Lex Pfeufer matched a career-low score, and the Millersville women's golf team sits in sixth place after the opening round of the PSAC Championship.
Millersville's opening round 345 put it one shot behind Kutztown and just six shy of Clarion for fourth place. Gannon raced to the team lead with a 308, and is four clear of West Chester after 18 holes.
Pfeufer's steady 79 included nine pars and a birdie on the par-5 16th. The round placed her seventh, seven shots behind Gannon's Anastasia Lopes (72), who was the only golfer in the field to not play over par.
Ashden Stitt went out and closed with matching 43's, putting her at 14-over and in 23rd place. She sits among 15 golfers who shot between 82 and 86. Sabrina Swope, who finished at 17-over, was 8-over through the 13th hole but slipped down the leaderboard in the last five holes. Erica Gerner similarly struggled on the back nine for a 91.
Millersville tees off with Kutztown and Clarion on Thursday at 11:40 a.m. Rachel Schuda is the first Marauder off the tee, and Pfeufer closes the lineup with a 12:20 p.m., tee time.
