- The Millersville women's golf team is enters the week's PSAC Championship with momentum and looking for a third consecutive top-three finish. The 2026 edition of the Millersville program features a young lineup with two freshmen and three first-time postseason participants. Millersville's youth seems to be peaking at the right time, however, as Lex Pfeufer, Sabrina Swope and Rachel Schuda all posted career-best rounds at last week's East Stroudsburg Invitational. Ashden Stitt has anchored the Millersville lineup all spring and is the team's No. 1 entering the weekend. She tees off alongside Gannon's Cloe Mateo--last season's No. 3 finisher--and West Chester's Hannah Lignell at 10:50 a.m., on Wednesday. Freshman Erica Gerner is Millersville's No. 2, followed by Pfeufer, Swope and Schuda.
- This week's championship marks the final PSAC Championship with Scott Vandegrift as Millersville's head coach. The 40-year veteran announced his plans to retire at the end of the season. He led the Millersville men's team to five conference titles and won the 2015 women's title. He is a four-time PSAC Coach of the Year.
- Gannon is the prohibitive favorite to win its fourth consecutive conference title. The Golden Knights won last year's championship by 20 shots. Gannon's three-time defending champion, Ditte Petersen, graduated, but Mateo, Alexandria LeCureux and Emily Donahue all posted top-12 finishes last season. The 2025 team runner-up, West Chester, has four new golfers in its championship lineup. Millersville must find a way to replace Charley Kirby's third-place finish and the veteran play of Amanda Wolf and Emma Schotsch, both of whom were All-PSAC performers in their careers.
- Millersville has spent much of the spring jockeying for position with Bloomsburg and Kutztown. In its last event, Millersville finished in a tie with Kutztown and ahead of East Stroudsburg and Bloomsburg. On April 12, Kutztown and Bloomsburg finished ahead of the Marauders at the Kutztown Invitational. Bloomsburg also topped the Marauders at the Husky Spring Invitational, but Millersville placed ahead of Kutztown, Clarion, Shepherd, Lock Haven and East Stroudsburg. Millersville finished behind Bloomsburg and Kutztown at the Millersville Invitational on April 4. The Marauders have rarely gone head-to-head against teams from the west. In March, the Marauders finished behind Gannon, Clarion, California and Seton Hill at the Vulcan Fire Classic.
- Gannon enters the weekend ranked eighth in the NCAA East Region according to Scoreboard. West Chester is the PSAC's second-highest ranked team followed by Kutztown, Bloomsburg and Millersville. The difference between the three teams is negligible. The Marauders' scoring average is 348 while Bloomsburg is 340.8 and Kutztown's is 341.6. Any of those three teams could contend for third.
- After a slow start to the spring, Millersville's scoring is trending in the right direction. One of the reasons for the improvement has been Schuda. She was in the lineup as an individual early in the spring but has played her way into the lineup with three consecutive top-25 finishes, including a sixth-place finish and 88 at the challenging Moselem Springs Golf Club on April 12. Stitt has been a steady performer all season and leads the team with an 85.2 adjusted scoring average and top-15 finishes in 10 of 11 events. Stitt will be making her PSAC Championship debut after serving as a substitute on last year's team. Swope placed 18th (+39) at the 2025 PSAC Championship and is coming off her best round of the season at the East Stroudsburg Invitational. Pfeufer placed 20th last season, shooting rounds of 84, 84 and 89. Gerner has been one of the top performers in the lineup since her first collegiate tournament in the fall. She impressively finished third and helped Millersville win the Vulcan Invitational on Sept. 23. Her 85.8 scoring average ranks second on the team.
