'Ville starts and finishes in sixth at PSAC Championship

KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Millersville women's golf closed the first round in sixth placed and finished the 54-hole PSAC Championship in the same spot after posting a 352 in Friday's final round.
The Marauders shot a higher score each round of the tournament, and while they lost no ground, they also did not gain ground. They finished just one shot behind Clarion and 22 behind Kutztown.
Sabrina Swope closed as Millersville's top finisher, taking 20th place after shooting an 87 on Friday. Rachel Schuda also shot an 87 on Friday and finished in 35th. Ashden Stitt and Lex Pfeufer both tied for 27th. Erica Gerner's final round 88 contributed to Friday's team score, and she placed 33rd.
The tournament was the final championship coached by Scott Vandegrift, who led Millersville's golf programs for 40 years as he announced his plans to retire at the end of the season. Vandegrift won five PSAC titles with the men's program, and one with the women's team, which he started in 2009.
