GLENVILLE, W.Va. - Millersville baseball scored three runs off D'Youville errors, and
Jimmy Kirk hit a home run, helping the Marauders to a 5-2 win in the first-ever meeting between the programs.
Millersville (5-2) received five shutout innings from
Carson Kulina (1-0),
Evan Rishell threw 2 1/3 shutout innings in relief, and
Harry Prince picked up his second save of the season with a 1-2-3 ninth inning. At the plate,
Mark McNelly went 3 for 6,
Jeff Sabater recorded two hits and stole three bases, and
Amani Jones reached base three times with a single and two walks.
Jones provided a two-out, RBI single in the second, and Kirk's solo home run gave the Marauders a 3-0 lead in the fourth. In the top of the first, an error on a
Matthew Williams grounder scored McNelly.
John Seibert scored on an error in both the fourth and sixth innings.
With the Marauders leading 5-0 in the sixth, D'Youville drew three walks and a hit batsman and put two runs on the board before Rishell escaped the jam and stranded three runners. D'Youville put two on base in the eighth before RIshell again ended the threat with a strikeout. D'Youville stranded 12 runners while Millersville stranded 10.
Millersville stays in Glenville, W.Va., for a game against Glenville State Saturday at 11 a.m.
