MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. - Justin Taylor hit a home run, and Mark McNelly and Amani Jones both recorded a pair of hits, but it wasn't enough for the sixth-ranked Millersville Marauders in Saturday's 6-3 loss to Molloy.
Molloy's (2-0) Robert Lucano (1-0) held Millerville (3-2) to one run on five hits over the first five innings before handing the ball to Matthew Fried, who picked up his first save of the season with four innings of relief work. Millersville starter Colby Gromlich held Molloy scoreless for the first three innings and took a 1-0 lead into the fourth, but the Lions pieced together two runs on four hits in the bottom of the fourth and never again trailed.
Gromlich was chased after allowing a third run in the fifth, and reliever Rece Ritchey allowed an inherited runner to score. Millersville eventually fell behind 6-1 before McNelly's RBI double scored Jones in the eighth and Taylor's homer in the ninth.
Matthew Williams drove in the other Millersville run and kept his hitting streak alive, extending it to six games. Jordan Oliver tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief, and Zack Tukis struck out all three batters he faced in the eighth.
