Marauders, Peters finish third at PSAC Championship

| By:
LEBANON, Pa. - After a promising start to the PSAC Championship, Millersville men's golf slipped down the leaderboard on Saturday and Sunday, and settled for a third-place finish. Timothy Peters, the 2023 champ, stayed steady and placed third on the individual leaderboard.

Gannon ran away with the team title with a 40-stroke victory. Millersville ended the first round 15 shots in front of Pitt-Johnstown and 11 behind Gannon, but by the end of Sunday Pitt-Johnstown caught and passed Millersville. The Mountain Cats posted rounds of 298 and 293 while Millersville shot 308 and 303 in the second and third.

Peters was the lone Marauder to break par on Sunday. A double-bogey on the ninth marred an otherwise brilliant round. He birdied four holes between the 11th and 16th to get to 3-under on the day and 4-under for the tournament, but bogeys on Nos. 17 and 18 put him at 1-under for the championship. The closing holes were a challenge for Peters all week as he played Nos. 9, 17 and 18 at 8-over. He was 9-over on all other holes.

Peters finished two shots behind Gannon's Giovanni DeLorenzi. Gannon's Mattia Parrini turned in the tournament's best round on Sunday, shooting a 4-under 69 to finish at 8-under.

Peters is the first Marauder since Robby Rowe in 2013 and 2014 to post back-to-back top-three finishes at the PSAC Championship.

Bo Meakim finished 13th in his PSAC Championship debut, shooting 12-over after an 80 on Sunday. Maxwell Pflieger and Eric Miller tied for 16th at 14-over. Freshman Sebastian Botero placed 25th in the 54-golfer field.

Millersville finished third or better in all six fall events. The championship closed the fall season, and the Marauders return to action in March.
