Mercyhurst tops Millersville in non-conference action

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - The Millersville women's tennis team stepped away from PSAC East play Friday for a dual against the Western Division's Mercyhurst. The Lakers scored a 5-2 win at McComsey Tennis Courts.
Millersville fell to 6-9 overall while Mercyhurst boosted its record to 9-8.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Millersville earned the match's first point with two wins in doubles. Noelle Htwar and Hui Jen Soo paired for a close, 7-6 (8-6) win in the No. 1 flight. Maria Ojeda and Chloe Abramowitz clinched the point in the No. 2 flight with their seventh-consecutive win as a team, 6-3.
• Mercyhurst, however, controlled singles play. The Lakers won flights one through five in straight sets. Millersville's lone point came through a default win at No. 6.

• Millersville plays at home on Sunday, April 16 at 1 p.m. against Frostburg State.
