  • Series Streak: New Haven, 1
  • First Meeting: L, 1–3 (2008)
  • Last Meeting: L, 1-3 (2008)

ABOUT THE MATCH

  • Millersville plays host to the New Haven Chargers on Friday night in Pucillo Gymnasium. The Marauders enter with a record of 8-12 on the season but a .500 mark outside of conference play. The Chargers come into the match with a 12-7 record and a .500 record outside of PSAC play.
  • The most notable storyline involves Millersville Head Coach Brian Smith, who is looking for win number 200. He currently sits on 199 career collegiate victories as a head coach.

SCOUTING THE MARAUDERS

  • Millersville comes in looking to make it three straight home victories after sweeping the Golden Rams on October 18.
  • Emma Kerwin and Taylor Welter will lead the attack. Kerwin leads the team in total kills with 270 on the season, which also ranks 6th in the PSAC. Welter is second on the team with 171 after missing a few matches earlier this season. She ranks eighth in the PSAC in kills per set at 3.23, and has been effective off of the bench since her return from injury. She paced the Marauders in putaways again against West Chester with 12.
  • Elizabeth Villegas, Madison Von Neida, Sam White and Madison Williams are key for their defense. Villegas and Von Neida have shared time at libero this season but it has been Villegas at that position for the past few matches. She leads the team in digs with 351, good for third in the conference.
  • Williams, White and Caroline Halsey make up Millersville's net presence. Halsey and White are one and two on the team in total blocks with 36 and 24, respectively. Halsey is coming off of one of her best matches of the season, recording eight kills and leading the team in total blocks with 1.5 against West Chester.
  • Williams has been a revelation for Coach Brian Smith in her freshman season. She's been a consistent starter for the past few matches after starting the season on the bench and is tied with Halsey for the team lead in blocks per set at .5.
  • Emma Ludwig leads the team in assists with 747 and is coming off of a match in which she dished out 39. That number puts her at third in the PSAC. She's also made an impact defensively with 215 digs and 24 total blocks, which both rank second on the team.

SCOUTING THE CHARGERS

  • The Chargers sport a record of 12-7 on the season and are on a seven-match winning streak dating back to September 26th. They boast a flawless record against Northeast 10 Conference foes at 5-0.
  • Macy Brown, a back-to-back member of the All-NEC 10 First Team, spearheads the New Haven attack. She just recorded career kill 1000 against Pace and leads the team with 246.
  • They also feature four other players with more than 100 kills on the season and recorded 52 of their 76 points against Pace via a kill. Four players finished with nine or more kills in that sweep.
  • The Chargers' setter is senior Michelle Henwood, a three-time All-NEC 10 selection. She's racked up 580 assists thus far.
  • Defensively, New Haven has spread the wealth at the net. They have four players with more than 20 total blocks and six in double figures. Sophomore Amihan Johnson leads the team in blocks per set at .59 and has recorded nine in the last three matches (10 sets).

THE LAST TIME OUT

  • Millersville: Millersville 3, West Chester 0 (Oct. 18, 2023) - The Marauders hosted West Chester in a critical mid-week conference bout and swept the Golden Rams out of Pucillo Gymnasium. The Marauders dominated throughout by taking advantage of the visitor's errors and not committing their own.
  • New Haven:  New Haven 3, Pace 0 (Oct. 17, 2023) - The Chargers won their seventh straight on the season by sweeping conference rival Pace. They controlled the match handily for the first two sets, but the Setters fought back in the third to force it to overtime. Grace Juergens and Macy Brown each recorded a double-double in the win.

SERIES HISTORY

  • This will be just the second time these squads have faced off against each other. The last matchup came in 2008 and was a 3-1 New Haven victory.
