Peters wins in playoff, Marauders win on tiebreaker at Bloomsburg Invitational

| By:
DANVILLE, Pa. - Timothy Peters' impressive freshman campaign continued Thursday afternoon at the Bloomsburg Invitational as he led Millersville men's golf to a first-place finish with a first-place finish of his own. The Marauder rookie played the final nine holes in 2-under-par to match his career-low round of 72 and won the event in a playoff. As a team, the Marauders posted a 19-over total and edged Goldey-Beacom in a tiebreaker.

The team first-place finish was Millersville's first since the 2019-20 season. Millersville was crowned the champion by virtue of its No. 5 scorer shooting lower than Goldey-Beacom's. Peters is the second Marauder to finish in first this season as Bo Meakim won the Elizabethtown Invitational in September. Peters now owns three top-10 finishes in five career events.

Peters and Jefferson's Noah Petracci both shot even par, and it was Peters' steady play that made the difference. Petracci shot 1-over on the back nine with a bogey on the par-4 18th hole. Peters struggled early and was 2-over through four holes after a double bogey on the par-3 fifth. But Peters posted three birdies, one bogey and 10 pars the rest of the way. It was his three on the 369-yard 17th hole that evened him with Petracci.

Peters needed just one hole to best Petracci. Peters registered a par on a replay of the 10th while Petracci continued to fade with a second-straight bogey.

Millersville also received strong play from Carl Ernst and Bobby Lugiano. Ernst tied for fourth with a 3-over-par 75. Lugiano tied for ninth with a 7-over 79 that included back-to-back birdies on the 17th and 18th holes. Freshman Jake Speers rounded out Millersville's scoring with an 81 and 16th-place finish.
