ABOUT THE GAME
- The Millersville women's soccer team will look to get back on track Saturday afternoon against the visiting Mansfield Mountaineers.
- Both teams have had rough starts to the 2022 season and currently sit in the bottom two spots of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East Standings. However, this game could be where head coach Matt Procopio's group turns things around for the better. Procopio is 6-1-1 all-time against Mansfield and has not suffered a loss to the PSAC East foe since his first season at the helm of the program in 2015.
- The last meeting between these two programs took place on Wednesday, Oct. 27 at Pucillo Field where the Marauders put up five goals, while blanking the visiting Mountaineers. Morgan Winchock scored two goals to go along with her 10 shots (seven on-goal), Emma Elwell scored a goal and Reagan Kolinski made four saves in the rout.
- Kickoff for Saturday's contest is slated for 1 p.m. on the PSAC Digital Network.
SCOUTING THE MARAUDERS
- The Marauder offense will look to get back on track against a Mansfield back line that has been torched as of late. The Mountaineers have given up eight goals in their past two outings and 11 total goals this season. Savannah Rennix leads the Marauders with two goals this season, which are the only two Millersville has as a unit.
- Kolinski and the ‘Ville defense haven’t given up more than two goals in the past four games and are facing a Mountie offense that hasn't scored in their past three games.
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
- The Mountaineers have had five different players find the back of the net, despite not scoring a goal in four of their six outings. Most of these scores came in a five-goal victory against Salem University in the team's season opener.
- Katelyn Rueppel leads Mansfield with two scores and two assists this season, while Emily Smith is the only other Mountaineer to record an assist and a goal.
- Both Cameron Faith and Samantha Merklin have spent time in goal for Mansfield. Faith has started two games and allowed eight goals, while Merkin has started four and allowed three.
THE LAST TIME OUT
- Millersville: No. 25 Bloomsburg 2, Millersville 0 (Saturday, Sept. 10) - The nationally ranked Huskies held the Marauders to just two shots the entire match, while sending in 16 of their own, 12 landing on-frame. Bloomsburg was able to send two of those shots past Kolinski in first-half play to leave Pucillo with a two-goal victory.
- No. 25 Bloomsburg: No. 5 West Chester 3, Mansfield 0 (Wednesday, Sept. 14) - Mansfield was no match for the fifth-ranked Golden Rams, getting outshot 38-6 and giving up three goals.
