SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Millersville University softball team (17-15, 5-1 PSAC) split their doubleheader against the Shippensburg Raiders on Friday afternoon, winning game one by a final of 11-2 before being shutout 7-0 in game two.

Sam Fried led the Marauders in game one, going 2-for-4 at the plate with a season high four RBIs. Righty
Alex Schaefer pitched a complete game in the circle, going the full seven innings for the second time this season.
The Marauders wrap their regular season with 10 of their last 14 games coming at home, the first of which takes place tomorrow as 'Ville takes on Lock Haven in a doubleheader set to start at noon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE: Millersville 11 – Shippensburg 2
- Alexis Harkins opened the scoring in the top of the first with a bases loaded walk and 'Ville never looked back. Fried and Marli Schreiner added to the early lead with a pair of RBI singles, putting the Marauders ahead 3-0 after one.
- Millersville would add a run in the second and third innings before putting the game out of reach with three runs in the fourth, going ahead 8-0. Fried delivered the final nail with a bases clearing triple to left field.
- Shippensburg would get on the board in the fifth, scoring its only two runs off of Schaefer.
- The Marauders added a run in the sixth on a Gabby D'Ottavio single. Kendra Bumgardner and Gabi Turner each added to the Marauder lead with RBI singles in the seventh.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Millersville scored in five of six innings, with the lone zero coming in the fifth.
- The Marauders scored 10+ runs for the eighth time this season, improving to 8-0 in such games.
- Millersville outhit Shippensburg 11 to nine.
- Schaefer improved to 8-5 after tossing a complete game in the circle. She walked two batters over her shutout performance, scattering nine hits and stranding eight runners on base.
- Turner led the offense with three runs scored, while Aleese Angelo and Schreiner each scored twice.
- Fried (four) and Turner (two) both drove in multiple runs.
- Bumgardner, Turner, Fried, and Breanna Clayton each recorded two hits.
GAME TWO: Shippensburg 7 – Millersville 0
- After a pitching duel early, the Raiders capitalized on errors by the Marauder defense, scoring three unearned runs off of starter Morgan Crutcher in the third. Shippensburg added another unearned run in the fourth, going ahead 4-0.
- Millersville would never threaten, mustering just four hits in the game, two of which came off the bat of Angelo. Bumgardner and D'Ottavio had the other hits for 'Ville.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Crutcher fell to 7-7 in the circle after allowing six runs (two earned) over four innings of work.
- Millersville committed five errors in the loss.

On Frieds four RBI game: "Sami was more aggressive later in the game and was able to make adjustments quickly."
On Schaefers complete game: "Al's very competitive and is always trying to win each pitch. Her ability to hit spots and work ahead has helped her sit batters down."
On the quick turnaround for tomorrow: "Lock Haven's a good program and never an easy win, no one is in our conference this year. Should be a great doubleheader of softball."
