
Striver and Alberici's first-place finishes lead Marauders at Princeton Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. - Aliyah Striver posted one of the nation's best marks in the shot put, and Katy Alberici won the triple jump with a career-best leap to lead the Millersville University women's track and field team Sunday at the Princeton Invitational.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS
• Striver's third toss in the shot put landed 49-2 1/4, which was nearly a full foot further than her previous career best. Striver won Sunday's event by 11 3/4 inches over Penn's Maura Kimmel. Striver now holds the eighth-best mark in all of Division II.
• Alberici jumped 35-61/2 on her second attempt in the triple jump, which was good enough to win the event and also stand as one of the PSAC's top 20 jumps of the season.
• Destinee Holloman turned in a pair of top-four finishes. She finished third in the long jump with a jump of 17-4 3/4 and placed fourth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.79--just .06 off of her PR. Alberici (8.25), Gabriela Karch (8.29) and Aurora Conrad (8.32) also reached the finals in the 60 and placed fifth, sixth and seventh respectively.
• Madison Martin's runner-up finish in the weight throw (55-0 3/4) led a quartet of Marauders in the top eight. Striver finished fourth (50-3 1/2), Stephanie Garner placed seventh (47-5 3/4) and Hannah Woefling (41-2 1/2) finished eighth.
• Lyric Williams placed second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:02.13. Mia Carson ran a 1:02.29 to place third. Marissa Cummings, running the event for the first time, placed fifth with a time of 1:04.85.
• Emily Black ran a personal-best time of 2:30.60 in the 800-meter run and finished sixth.
REACTION FROM COACH ANDY YOUNG
• On what the team accomplished today: "Every week we seem to get better. Although we didn't get any new PSAC marks we did have a lot of indoor PR's today. We also were able to settle who will be running relays at the PSAC Championships."
• On the team's status heading into the PSAC Championships: "The team is improving and pretty healthy so we definitely have a positive attitude toward how PSAC's will go next week."

• Striver's win was her fourth of the indoor season. She has finished in the top five in the shot put in all six meets.
• Millersville heads into next week's PSAC Indoor Championships with Martin (weight throw) and Striver (shot put) holding the No. 1 seeds. Holloman is seeded fourth in the 60 and 12th in the long jump. D'Asia Holloman ranks third in the 60-meter hurdles and 15th in the 60. Millersville also owns three of the top seven marks in the weight throw and two of the top seven in the shot put.
