
Women’s golf ready for strong showing at PSAC Championships

HERSHEY, Pa. – The Millersville women's golf team concludes its fall stretch at the PSAC Championships this weekend. The tournament will be held at Hershey Country Club's East Course. It is a three-round format beginning on Friday, Oct. 18 and concluding on Sunday, Oct. 20.
West Chester University is the defending tournament champion, claiming the title last year with a team score of 951. The Golden Rams' Juliarose Genuardi brought home the individual title carding a 229 over the three days. Senior Meghan O'Mara currently leads West Chester recently earning her third athlete of the week honor this fall.
The Marauders placed fifth in last year's tournament with a three-round total of 1,038. Danielle Green led Millersville on the individual leaderboard, claiming eighth place in the 44-person field. Green carded 79-83-82 for a three-round total of 244.
12 schools are set to participate in the tournament. Joining Millersville is Cal U, Clarion, East Stroudsburg, Gannon, IUP, Kutztown, Mercyhurst, Pitt-Johnstown, Seton Hill, Shepherd and West Chester.
Gannon leads the PSAC in the Golf Stat rankings followed by Mercyhurst, West Chester and Cal U. Millersville sits in fifth among the teams ahead of Kutztown, East Stroudsburg, Seton Hill and Clarion.
The Marauders finished in third at the Alvernia Fall Invitational and claimed the team title at the Elizabethtown Invitational. All five Marauders finished in the top 25 at the Alvernia Fall Invitational. The team carded a single-round total of 373. Millersville earned its only tournament title of the season with a single-round score of 326 to top four other teams at the Elizabethtown Invitational. All five Marauders finished in the top 10.
Millersville tied with West Chester and finished ahead of Seton Hill and Clarion at the Michael Corbett Fall Classic. The Marauders tallied and two-day total of 690. Gannon came out on top with a 652. The Marauders topped Kutztown, Seton Hill, East Stroudsburg and Clarion at the Evan Parker Memorial. Millersville shot a 731, but trailed behind Mercyhurst and Gannon.
Millersville's lineup for the championships includes seniors Joelie Bennett and Hailea Yocum, junior Hannah Yanoski, sophomores Alexandra Craig and Cassandra Vogel and freshman Amanda Steier.
Bennett has participated in all four tournaments this season, shooting an average 98.29. She shot a season-low 88 in the first round of the Michael Corbett Fall Classic. Yocum has played in two tournaments this season with a scoring average 98.00. She shot a career-low 92 in the second round of the Michael Corbett Fall Classic. Yanoski has a scoring average of 85.71 in four events this season. She has earned two top-10 finishes and two top-25 finishes this season. She carded a season-low 171 in two rounds at the Glade Springs Intercollegiate. Craig has participated in all four tournaments this fall shooting an average 87.14. She shot a career-low 79 in the first round of the Glade Springs Intercollegiate. She earned two top-10 finishes this season. Cassandra Vogel has played in all four tournaments with an average 99.43. She earned her lowest-career 18-hole score (81) at the Elizabethtown Invitational.
Amanda Steier has shot an average of 87.29 in seven rounds so far this season. She carded a pair of season-low 81's to record a two-round season-low of 162 at the Glade Springs Intercollegiate.
