Millersville, Pa. - Eli Nabholz pitched his third consecutive shutout for a 2-0 Millersville win in game one, and Cordell Shannon and the bullpen kept East Stroudsburg in check for a 6-2 win in game two of Saturday's doubleheader at Cooper Park.
Nabholz (6-3) extended his consecutive scoreless innings streak to 21, tying him for the ninth-longest streak in PSAC history and fourth-best at Millersville. Nabholz held ESU to just three hits and struck out 10. He has surrendered just nine hits in his last 21 innings. Shannon (5-2), the game two starter, gave up two runs over five innings, struck out four without a walk.
Kaylor Kulina accounted for two of the Marauders' three hits in game one. Jimmy Cain went 2 for 3 with a double, home run and two RBIs in game two.
Millersville boosted its record to 24-13 overall and 12-6 in PSAC East play.
GAME ONE
Nabholz and East Stroudsburg's Connor Johnson locked in a pitchers' duel with both throwing complete games. Millersville's lineup used productive outs to get just enough run support for Nabholz.
In the second inning, Dominic Hardaway led off with a single and stole second base. He raced to third on a Cain fly out to right. Cain then scored on a Ted Williams ground ball to first. In the fourth, Kulina led off with a single, and Ben Snyder drew a walk. Hardaway bunted both into scoring position, and Cain grounded out to second, getting Kulina home.
East Stroudsburg only truly threatened in the second when Christian Rishel was hit by a pitch and Mike Sulcoski singled, putting two on with no outs. Nabholz, however, sat down three in a row including two via strikeout. Only one Warrior reached scoring position over the final five innings.
GAME TWO
Four of Millersville's six runs scored were of the unearned variety as the Marauders took advantage of four East Stroudsburg errors.Still, East Stroudsburg stayed closed. Millersville build a 3-0 lead before ESU produced a two-run, four-hit fifth. Shannon escaped further damage and preserved Millersville's lead when Kulina snared a Sulcoski line drive at the third base, leaving the go-ahead run on base.
The momentum wasn't in ESU's favor for long. Cain, leading off the fifth, drilled a 1-2 pitch over the left field wall, boosting the Marauders' lead back to two. ESU put two runners on again in the sixth, but freshman lefty Christian Wingard entered and caught leadoff hitter Cameron Freeman looking at strike three to end the inning.
Kulina singled in a run and Snyder hit a sacrifice fly in the sixth to extend Millersville lead, and Wingard sat down the Warriors in order in the seventh.

Millersville travels to East Stroudsburg Sunday to complete the series. The Marauders return to Cooper Park on Wednesday, April 25 for a non-conference doubleheader against Glenville State.
