Selinsgrove, Pa. - The Millersville women's track and field team sent a small contingent to Susquehanna University Friday evening, giving athletes one last opportunity to qualify or improve their standing for upcoming PSAC Indoor Championships.
The Marauders posted three PSAC Championships qualifying marks and also turned in seven season-best performances.
Millersville captured the top three spots in the long jump with Brianna Doherty (18-0 1/4) taking first, Kay Liebl (17-4 3/4) taking second, and Destinee Holloman (17-1 1/4) placing third. Both Doherty and Holloman hit season best marks, and Holloman's was good enough to qualify her for the PSAC Championships.
Millersville was also well-represented in the 60-meter dash, taking four of the six spots in the finals. Holloman won the race with a season-best time of 7.95. Doherty ran a PSAC qualifying time of 8.04 for third place. Liebl also hit the PSAC qualifying cut at 8.12. Arielle Stigelman took sixth in the event. Millersville has now qualified six runners for the 60 at the PSAC Championships. The group is led by Courtney Ingold, who is currently seeded ninth.
Liebl finished her busy evening in the 200-meter dash, placing fifth with a time of 27.61.
Marauders took spots two and four in the weigh throw. Amanda Myers' 48-4 1/2 was a season best toss by more than two feet. She was the runner-up in the event while freshman Aliyah Striver took fourth with her own season-best throw of 46-8. The Marauders have five athletes set to compete in the event at the PSAC Championships, including No. 1 seeded Sunflower Greene and fourth-ranked Madison Martin.
Striver also topped her season-best in the shot put, hitting 39-0 1/2, which placed her third.
Aniya Gibbs took third place in a field of 31 runners in the 400-meter dash (1:02.31).
