Jones and Grohoski reach round of eight in doubles in PSAC Championships

Bloomsburg, Pa. – With a hard-fought singles win, Millersville junior Katina Jones battled in the round of 32 at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Individual Championships. Jones and freshman Corinne Grohoski also teamed for a win in doubles competition.
Jones fought past Bloomsburg's Cassidy Calimer in a 7-5 first set victory and a 6-4 second set win to advance to the round of 16. Grohoski could not get past Shippensburg's Kaelyn Zak in a 6-1, 6-0 decision.
In the round of 16, Jones competed against Lacey Cohen of Slippery Rock. Cohen emerged victorious, winning both sets, 6-2.
Grohoski and Jones earned a 8-5 victory over California's Kate Olson and Charlotte Gallagher. The Marauders moved into the round of eight but were defeated by the No. 1 doubles seed, IUP's Luise von Agris and Nicole Beidacki. The duo of Von Agris and Beidacki downed Jones and Grohoski, 8-2.
Millersville hosts three straight matches starting on Friday, Oct. 6 against Mercyhurst at 3 p.m. at McComsey Tennis Courts.
