
Men’s tennis blanks Elizabethtown 9-0 in home opener

Millersville, Pa. – The Millersville men's tennis team dominated non-conference Elizabethtown College 9-0 in its 2017-18 home opener at McComsey Courts Sunday afternoon.
The Marauders grabbed its first win of the season and the Blue Jays took its first loss.
All of the members of the Millersville team secured a win in the singles and doubles competition today. Junior Peter Landis and freshman Ben Fellman won 6-0, 6-0.
At No. 2 singles sophomore Jose Alcazar defeated Ryan Caris of Elizabethtown 6-0 in the first set and then finished 6-1 to end the match. Redshirt freshman Calvin Athey overpowered Julian LeMaire to win the match, 6-0, 6-2. Junior Christian Akerley and freshman Brandon Miller won their pivotal matches with the same outcome of 6-1, 6-1.
Landis and Alcazar teamed up to earn a 8-1 win in the No.1 doubles matchup. With a hard fought 8-5 match, Fellman and Akerley defeated Caris and Tristan Boheim. Finishing the doubles competition, Athey and Miller notched an 8-0 triumph.
Fellman kept his consistency going and improved to 2-1 in singles in his first season as a Marauder. Akerley's 6-1, 6-1 victory became his career eighth singles victory.
Millersville travels for another non-conference matchup against Usciences on Thursday, Sept. 28 at 3 p.m.
