GAME OVERVIEW
• The Millersville women's basketball team enters its final week of regular-season play desperately needing a win to help secure a postseason berth. The Marauders have dropped their last four games by an average of seven points.Â
• The matchup against Kutztown was the only game for Millersville last week and the loss dropped them to sixth in the PSAC East with two games to play. The top six teams in each division make the conference tournament and the Marauders sit just ahead of Lock Haven and Cheyney in the standings.Â
• After being dominated in the second and third quarters, Millersville outscored the Golden Bears 22-7 in the fourth but a buzzer-beater from Savannah Krusinsky rimmed out and the Marauders fell by two.
• The Marauders have struggled from beyond the arc in the last six games, averaging just 31 percent from 3-point range. When shooting 32 percent or higher from 3-point range, Millersville is 5-3.Â
• Despite outscoring teams in the fourth quarter. Millersville has dug itself into holes early and is averaging just 58.5 points per game. The Marauders have also struggled to take care of the ball, committing 18.2 turnovers per game.Â
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN RAMS
• West Chester enters Wednesday's matchup with Millersville sitting third in the PSAC East having clinched a trip to the postseason. Much like Millersville, West Chester has struggled mightily as of late, losing its last five contests.
• Porscha Speller his the main ball handler for the Golden Rams and is currently 11th in the conference in scoring average with14.3 points per game. Speller spreads the wealth, averaging 4.1 assists and 2.1 steals per game which ranks her seventh-best in the PSAC in both categories.Â
• Madison Torresin, who is second on the team with 12.3 points per game, is a force on the glass averaging 8.3 rebounds per contest this season.Â
THE LAST MATCHUP (January 18, 2017: Â West Chester 78, Millersville 66)
• When the two sides met a month ago, it was the Marauders who held a two-point advantage at the break, but the pace of West Chester caught up to Millersville as they were outscored 34-20 in the second half.Â
•
Courtney Hinnant had a career-high with 20 points to go with 11 rebounds in the game but West Chester did a good job containing Hall, Van Brakle and company.Â
• Millersville had no answer for the balanced scoring attack of the Golden Rams who had five players with 10 points or more. The duo of Tori Smick and Madison Torresin dominated Millersville, both racking up double-doubles. Smick led the team with 18 points while both Smick and Torresin pulled down 11 rebounds. Â
• The Marauders outscored West Chester in the paint, but registered less points off turnovers, second chance points, and bench points.Â
