ABOUT THE GAME

  • Millersville has lost their last outing and closes the 2025 calendar year with back-to-back home games against two strong opponents and nationally ranked Gannon while being winless at home so far in the early goings of their ‘25-’26 campaign. The Maraduers have started 0-2 in PSAC play with close losses in each of their games, against Clarion and Edinboro respectively. Millersvilles' last win came against Wilmington in an away routing last Friday. Jefferson enters Friday’s match up 6-3 overall and 2-2 on the road. Friday is Jefferson's fourth game against a PSAC team this season where the Rams are 2-1 against PSAC foes. Gannon, coming off an Elite 8 appearance in the ‘24-’25 season, are currently 10-1 with key victories against two opponents ranked in the top 5. They won their last game against Kutztown 70-48 in a 22-point win.

GAME STORYLINES

  • Gannon is coming into the weekend with a strong start after a year that found a run to the Elite 8. At 10-1, Gannon looks like an absolute powerhouse averaging 66.5 PPG while holding opponents to a massive low of 48.1 PPG. The defense has been a huge story for the Golden Knights coming into their match up against the Marauders with an average of 9.5 steals, 5.3 blocks, and forcing 18.6 turnovers per game. It has been all around clean basketball thorugh 11 games for the Golden Knights, who are 2-0 in PSAC play so far with a match up against West Chester still to come before Sunday's double-header. Gannon leads the PSAC in overall team defense and win margain at 11.9 points.
  • While the Rams aren't as strong defensively as Gannon, they still hold a strong record due to their explosive offesne, who averages 61.3 PPG, but allowing opponents 58.6 PPG. Jefferson is extermely top-heavy when it comes to their offensive attack with Emily Spratt (17.6 PPG, 6.8 RPG, and 23 steals) and Gabby Recinto (15.5 PPG, 9.3 RPG, 12 steals, and 6 blocks).
  • Millersville comes into the weekend looking for their first PSAC win this season. They sit at 3-4 with their last win coming against a win less Wilmington team last Friday. The Maraduers offensively have not struggled this season with the sixth best statistical offense in the PSAC averaging 67.7 points per game. Where the Marauders have struggled though are on the defensive side of the ball where they currently sit middle of the pack in the PSAC at seventh allowing opposing teams to 64.6 PPG.
  • Daniella Ranieli, the freshman point guard for the Marauders, has been off to a hot start in her debut year in the Black and Gold getting it done both on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. Ranieli averages 12.4 PPG and has nine steals on the season.
  • Bryn Zentner averages a near double-double on the year with 8.9 PPG and 10.1 RPG. The forward for the Marauders started her year as a PSAC Player of the Week, but has not been able to get back to the dominance that she had in the first two games of the year.
  • Aniya Eberhart often provides a spark off the bench for head coach Kira Mowen with the third highest points per game average at 7.3.

SERIES HISTORY

  • Millersville and Jefferson meet for the 26th time with the Marauders holding a 16–9 edge in the all-time series. Millersville has been especially strong at home against the Rams, posting a 10–3 record inside Pucillo Gymnasium, while Jefferson holds a slight advantage on the road. The Marauders enter the matchup looking to snap a one-game skid and improve on a rich series history. Millersville has faced Gannon 14 times, with the Golden Knights holding a 10–4 advantage in the series. The Marauders have struggled on the road against Gannon, going 0–5 away from home, but have been more competitive in Pucillo Gymnasium with a 2–3 mark. Gannon has won the last three meetings, including both postseason matchups, as Millersville looks to reverse recent trends and improve its 2–6 record against the Golden Knights in conference play.
