GAME OVERVIEW
• The Marauders are coming off an impressive victory in which
Erica Tarsi scored a hat trick, the first for Millersville since Sept. 3 of 2016, and helped Millersville win its fourth straight. Tarsi has scored six goals and she leads the team in the category. After starting 3-3, Millersville is now 7-3 and striving. The Marauders have outscored opponents 22-11 on the season. However, in the past four games alone, the Marauders have outscored their opposition 6-0. In one of those wins, it took over 70 minutes for them to triumph in overtime. In Thursday's win, it took Tarsi and the Marauders only 21 seconds to score. Millersville has shown off their versatility in multiple ways in the 2017 season.
• One undeniable way the Marauders have dominated is their defense.
Kylee Bair, the Millersville goalie, has allowed only seven goals in eight games. She enjoys a 6-1 record and has been the goalkeeper for all four of the consecutive shutouts. If the Marauders can hold off Seton Hill from scoring for the first four minutes on Saturday, they will have hit 300 field hockey minutes without allowing a goal. Bair and the defense have worked together to limit their opponent's opportunities all season long.
• Another unique aspect of the Millersville squad is the depth it has shown. Among the 22 goals recorded this year, eight different players have scored. Multiple players have also scored more than one goal, with Tarsi's six leading the team. Not far behind the sophomore phenom is
Kathleen Bishop, who has tallied four so far.
Aliza Mizak and
Alexis Gazzio have each added three for Millersville. All four of those previously mentioned individuals know how to score, and they know how to get shots off too. The trio of Tarsi, Bishop and Mizak has combined for 54 total shots; add in Gazzio and
Kyra Brakefield's nine and a picture starts to come together. Millersville is great at setting themselves up with solid opportunities. Overall, the Marauders have attempted 152 shots.
ABOUT THE SERIES
• The series between Millersville and Seton Hill has been a one-sided affair. In their 12 total matchups, the Marauders enjoy a perfect record against the Griffins. In the last eight seasons, Millersville has managed to outscore Seton Hill 24-3.
• Even more impressive (than outscoring Seton Hill 24-3 over eight seasons) may be the number of goals the Marauders have scored contrasted with the number of shots they have allowed. Not shots on goal, but
shots attempted. So how drastic is it to have Marauder
goals and Seton Hill
shots even be a comparison? Millersville has scored 19 goals in the past seven years of the matchup. The Griffins have totaled 10 shots. The Marauders have nearly doubled the Griffins in goals versus shots. The Marauders outscored Hill 9-1 in their two matchups last season.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
• Seton Hill's struggles are not exclusive to games against Millersville. Last year, the Griffins went 3-15 (1-9 PSAC). They enjoyed a PSAC victory over Mercyhurst late in the year. This season, Seton Hill is 3-8 (0-3). The Griffins hold a record of 1-5 in road games as they come into Millersville on Saturday looking to get their first PSAC win. The Marauders will be looking to take care of business against an opponent that has still not beaten them.  Â
