MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - The No. 10 ranked Millersville University field hockey team suffered its fourth consecutive conference loss, falling to East Stroudsburg University on Sunday afternoon at Chryst Field. The match-up marked Senior Day for the Marauders, who took the field with an all-senior starting lineup.
Millersville (7-9, PSAC 3-5) was outshot 20-6 by East Stroudsburg (15-2, PSAC 6-2), as senior goalkeeper
Sarah Crysler recorded nine saves to anchor the Marauder defense. Despite earning six penalty corners, Millersville couldn't capitalize on its opportunities, falling to the Warriors 2-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Marauders found themselves playing from behind early after the Warriors struck first at 3:34, capitalizing on back-to-back penalty corners. East Stroudsburg maintained offensive control throughout the first quarter, adding five more shots. As Millersville's all-senior lineup returned to the field in the second, the Marauders generated their first offensive pressure with two penalty corners and shots from
Alexis Kern and
Faith Bollinger, both stopped by the Warrior defense. Millersville added two more corners and another attempt from Kern but couldn't find the equalizer. East Stroudsburg regained momentum late in the third quarter, firing off two more shots that were both denied by goalkeeper Crysler, who added another save in the closing seconds to keep the deficit at one. The Warriors opened the fourth quarter with three quick corners and two more shots before extending their lead at the 50:03 mark.
Zoe Angelinas notched the only Marauder shot of the final frame, but East Stroudsburg's goalkeeper turned it away to seal the 2-0 final.

POST GAME WITH Shelly Behrens
	- Let's start with your seniors. How happy were you with their fight today and what have they to the team and to yourself this entire season?

		- "They've meant everything for the past four years. I recruited them during COVID and changed some things around and they have absolutely been the best part of Millersville's field hockey for the past four years. They've really upped our culture, made the right changes, nobody cares more than them, they give everything, they play with their heart, their soul every single day... I'm super proud of them, they mean everything."

- What would you like to see the team improve on during penalty corners with having six opportunities?

		- "I'd like the ball to go in the net, if I'm being honest. I think just a little bit more, and I say it a lot to them, hockey IQ and the execution. I mean, I like our performance, I think it's been positive but now we have to clean up the details. The team even just said it, we need to clean some things up here and there. That's on us to be better and we have two more games to do it."

- Any other comments?

		- "To say thank you [to the seniors] is just not enough, and we're not done yet. These kids have meant everything in terms of what it means to be a Millersville Field Hockey player and they honestly exemplify that more than anyone ever has. I'm super proud of them as people, students... and I'm super proud to be their coach."

The Marauders are back under the lights Wednesday, Oct 29 when they host the Golden Rams from West Chester University for their "Pink Out" in association with the MUPD.
