Tournament Information PSAC Tournament Central Date: Oct. 21-22, 2017 Location: Hershey Country Club East Course, Hershey, Pa. PSAC Championship History |
• The Marauders are looking to contend at this weekend's PSAC Championship against a very competitive field. Millersville has four PSAC titles under its belt and is seeking a fifth conference title. The last time Millersville was the PSAC champion was 2013 when Conor Gilbert claimed the medalist honor by shooting a 1-under 143 over 36 holes.
• Indiana (Pa.), returns to the PSAC Championship to defend its 2016 title. IUP hopes to keep adding to the all-time record for PSAC conference titles at 27 total PSAC Championships since 1957. IUP has plenty of PSAC experience in the lineup with four of the projected starters having played in last season's title run. Matt Cocorikis is averaging a score of 76.38 and No. 1 player Joshua Bartley has a scoring average of 75.63. Max Kirsch won the individual title in a playoff to help the team win the 2016 title. IUP had a six year run of winning the championship from 2007-2012. IUP has finished in the top five of every event it has played this season.
• The Millersville squad had a strong start to the fall season, placing inside the top three in each of the first three tournaments. Coming off a win at the Eastern Fall Invitational, the Marauders look to keep that momentum going into this weekend.
• Coming off his third conference player of the week honor this season, Connor Sheehan tied for the lowest round in school history with a 6-under 66 at the Le Myne Invitational. Sheehan started the season off with a second place finish and 1-over 145 (73-72), receiving his first PSAC player of the week nomination. At the Mercyhurst Invitational, Sheehan shot a 2-over 146 (72-74) to tie for third.
• Last season at the PSAC Championship, Sheehan finished a tie for sixth for rounds of 78-72.
• Senior Mitchell Burns has played in all of the five events this season. Burns recorded his best finish at the Eastern Fall Invitational by registering a 8-over 78 for a sixth place finish. At the Hal Hansen Invitational, he recorded a 75-74 to tie for seventh. At the 2016 PSAC Championship, Burns shot an 84-74 to tie for a 28th.
• To end September on a high note, sophomore Brady Erb carded three 77's in the Hal Hansen Invitational and at the Mercyhurst Invitational to take a tie for 16th and 20th. Erb played in the first four tournaments of season, recording a scoring average of a 77.6.
• Junior Matt Keim hopes to improve from last season's PSAC Championship where he rallied from a first round 85 with a second round 73. Keim has a scoring average of 77.75 in eight rounds this season. Keim's top finish came at the Glade Springs Invitational when he shot an 8-over 152 (75-78) to tie for 14th.
• Redshirt senior Sean Ebert had a top-five finish at the Hal Hansen Invitational by shooting a 2-over 74 in both rounds.
• Other teams to watch at the PSAC Championship included West Chester, which has finished ahead of Millersville in two events. Gannon rallied back to win its own Bud Elwell Golf Invitational with Ethan Bennett shooting a 1-over 73 for both rounds.
• The starting lineup for the Marauders includes Sheehan (1), Burns (2), Erb (3), Keim (4) and Ebert (5).
• The men tee off on No. 1 Saturday, starting at 10:18 a.m.. Both men's and women's golf competitions are being played at Hershey Country Club East Course going off separate tees.
