
Men’s golf wins with Spak recording his first medalist honor

Wayne, Pa. – Redshirt sophomore Matt Spak shot a 2-over 72 to earn medalist honors at the Eastern Fall Invitational Monday afternoon. The Marauders won the team competition with a score of 303.
Spak finished the front nine off by birding the par 5 eighth and par 3 ninth to total for a 1-over 36. After the 12th hole, Spak ended his round at 1-under with a birdie on the par 3 17th.
Redshirt junior Corey Betham competed his first event of the season. He was two shots behind Spak, shooting a 4-over 74. Betham recorded the same amount of birdies as Spak. Betham battled back from a double bogey on the par 4 3rd by going 2-under for the rest of the front nine. Betham played the final five holes at 1-under and finished the back nine with a 39.
With a 7-over 77, sophomore Jack Devic claimed fifth place. A shot off Devic, senior Mitchell Burns posted an 8-over 78. Burns started off his round even through four holes and recorded a 3-over 38 for the front nine. Rounding out Millersville's lineup was freshman Ronnie Yanoski, who shot a 10-over 81 in his first tournament of his career, tying for seventh.
Host Eastern University was behind Millersville for second place to record a 320 total.
The Marauders have their eyes on the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Men's Golf Championship. The event will be at Hershey Country Club East Course on Oct. 21-22.
