
Track and Field Takes Third as Madison takes PSAC Championships MVP

Mansfield, Pa. - The Millersville women's track and field team finished third overall in the 2016 PSAC Outdoor Championships accumulating 98 points as a team. Erin Madison was named both track and overall MVP as she took home wins in the 100- and 400-meter hurdles and totaled 36 points for the Marauders. The 98 points was the best mark the program has had since the 1996 squad scored 104 to win the PSAC Championships.
Erin Madison capped off her final PSAC Championships with two first-place finishes Saturday. Madison ran a 14.58 to win the 100 hurdles and a 1:00.99 to take the 400 hurdles title. Madison edged out Pitt-Johnstown's Kelci Warshel by 0.2 seconds in the 100 hurdles and her 400 time was almost a second faster than Clarion's Tatiana Cloud. Madison won the 400 hurdles at the 2015 PSAC Championships finished a close runner up 100 hurdles last season.
Kiara Allen successfully defender her title in the 100-meter dash, making her a three-time champion in the event. She paced the field with a final time of 12.03 earning Millersville 10 points. In the 200-meter dash, Allen ran a 24.93 which placed her third overall while Courtney Ingold added a point to the Marauder total with an eighth-place time of 25.69.
Allen, Madison, Ingold and Clara Forney clocked a 47.22 in the 4x100-meter relay which was good for second overall. In the 4x400-meter relay, Allen, Madison, and Forney teamed up with Amanda Long to run a 3:54.81 which was also a second-place finish.
In the field events, Amanda Myers took fourth in the javelin with a toss of 149-11 while teammate Olivia Misner threw a 121-6. In the discus, Vanessa Hower, who took first place Friday in the hammer throw, finished sixth with a distance of 130-1. Finishing right behind Hower in seventh place was freshman Sunflower Greene who registered a mark of 125-2 and earned Millersville two points. Greene recorded an impressive rookie meet, also placing second in the hammer throw and third in shot put.
Allen (100), Madison (400 hurdles), Greene (shot put), Hower (hammer) and Myers (javelin) all have NCAA provisional marks in their respective events and will now await word to see if they qualify for the NCAA Championships on May 19.
