Wharton Paces Women's Golf to Third-Place Finish

Whispering Pines, N.C. - The Millersville women's golf opened its spring schedule with a third-place finish at the John Brown Invitational, hosted at the Country Club of Whispering Pines. Senior Jaimie Wharton led the Marauders with a fourth-place finish.
The reigning PSAC champs posted scores of 343 and 347 over 36 holes to finish behind winner California (Pa.) and Bridgewater College. California shot a 29-over-par team score and edged Bridgewater by nine shots.
Wharton opened the tournament with a 3-over-par 75 and was tied for second after the opening 18 holes. Wharton, however, slipped to fourth after posting an 83 in the second round. Freshman Danielle Greene bounced back from an opening round 86 with an 8-over-par 80 in round two to finish in a tie for ninth.
Senior Kendal Olear, who missed much of the fall schedule with academic obligations, returned to the lineup and finished in a tie for 31st. Danielle Freed placed in a tie for 36th, rounding out the scoring for the Marauders.
Millersville is back in action on March 19 at the Revolutionary Collegiate Classic hosted by Ursinus.
