Stoltzfus Picked as NCBWA Atlantic Region Hitter of the Week

Millersville, Pa. - Junior catcher Mitch Stoltzfus sparked the nationally-ranked Millersville baseball team to 50 runs scored in three wins last weekend, and his performances landed him National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Atlantic Region Hitter of the Week.
Stoltzfus went 8-for-10 at the plate and drove in nine runs in the three-game span. He recorded at least two hits and two RBIs and an extra base hit in each game.
He went 2-for-3 with three RBIs against Pitt-Johnstown, 4-for-4 with a homer and four RBIs against nationally-ranked Seton Hill. Stoltzfus capped his weekend with a 2-for-3 performance with a walk, double, two RBIs and two runs scored against IUP. Stoltzfus was also perfect in the field in 17 chances and threw out both runners that tried to steal a base.
As winner of the regional award, Stoltzfus will now be placed on the ballot for national hitter of the week consideration.
Through seven games and five starts, Stoltzfus is hitting .550 with 10 RBIs and five runs scored. He also is error-free in 42 fielding chances and has thrown out three of five potential base stealers.
Stoltzfus and the Marauders take on UNC Pembroke Thursday at 3 p.m.
