Freed wins, team finishes second at Eastern Invitational

St. David's, Pennsylvania - Millersville University senior Danielle Freed shot a 79 at the 18-hole Eastern Invitational to capture her first individual win since her freshman season. Freed's finish helped the Marauders to to a second-place finish among the tournament's eight teams.
Freed has now cracked the top 10 in four consecutive tournaments, finishing runner-up twice before placing ninth at the PSAC Championship. She closed her fall campaign with Wednesday's win. Her 3-over 38 on the front nine was the best in the field.
Danielle Greene, just three days removed from a runner-up finish at the conference championships, shot a 12-over-par 82 to finish in fifth. Freshman Joelie Bennett shot a career-low 83. She topped her previous best round by five shots. Bennett's round included a birdie on the par-4 fifth. Millersville's fourth score came from Alexa Strong, who tied for 23rd with a 93.
Millersville's 337 team score was three strokes behind Stevenson, which won with a 334.
Millersville's fall season is complete. It returns to the course in March.
