Hershey, Pennsylvania - After firing the best round of any team in the two-day PSAC Championships, the Millersville men's golf team climbed into a tie for the fourth. The charge included four rounds of 3-over-par or better, and Rodney Anders and Connor Sheehan both finished in the top 10.
Millersville opened the 36-hole tournament with a 316 and found itself 10 shots out of fourth place. But a 295, which was the lowest round of the tournament by two shots, helped the Marauders finish at 43-over-par and tied with Mercyhurst. Mercyhurst was one of three teams that fell out of a tie for first place, and Indiana (Pa.), which entered the day two shots off the pace, won the championship by two shots after posting a 297.
Anders trailed on the individual leaderboard by three shots after Saturday and backed up his 75 with a 2-over-par 74, putting him at 7-over for the tournament and in a three-way tie for third place, three shots out of the lead. IUP's Max Kirsch shot the round of the tournament, following Saturday's 78 with a 68 on Sunday, putting him in a tie for first with West Chester's Andrew Patterson. Anders was even par on the round before a double-bogey on the 17th hole. A lengthy birdie putt on 18 held up on the edge.
Sheehan delivered a fine Sunday performance, as well, posting an even-par 72 for his best-ever PSAC Championship round and finish. The junior climbed nine shots up the leaderboard into a tie for sixth at 8-over-par. Sheehan's Sunday 72 was bested by only three other golfers.
Matt Spak concluded his championship debut with a 75 to finish at 11-over and in a tie for 16th. Mitchell Burns dropped his stroke total from round one by 13 shots, shooting a 74 and tying for 28th.
