Box Score West Chester, Pa. – Millersville women's basketball built an early lead over rival West Chester but couldn't hold it Wednesday night in Hollinger Fieldhouse. Three Marauders in double figures was not enough in the 74-59 loss.

West Chester (12-5, 9-4 PSAC), now winners of four in a row and eight of nine overcame Millersville's quick start and pulled away for its seventh double-digit win in eight games. Brittany Sicinski, the PSAC's No. 6 scorer, led all scorers with 19 points. Millersville received 16 from
Aunjel Van Brakle.

Millersville (10-7, 6-7 PSAC) lead by as many as six in the first quarter, hitting 8-of-21 shots, 3-of-5 3-pointers and 4-of-5 free throws for a 23-19 lead after 10 minutes. Van Brakle scored seven early points, and the Marauder defense forced the Golden Rams into five turnovers.

But the home team quickly erased the deficit. A 10-2 run early in the second quarter pushed the Golden Rams into the lead. Marauder
Courtney Hinnant answered with two to tie the game at 29-29, but after the teams traded baskets again, Dallas Ely hit a 3-pointer that gave West Chester the lead for good. It closed the half by hitting its final three shots—two of them threes.

Millersville could not make up ground in the third quarter, and in the fourth, West Chester pulled away, by hitting 6-of-11 shots while Millersville connected on just 3-of-16 and committed four turnovers in the final 10 minutes. Millersville was outscored 55-36 over the final three quarters, shooting 36.6 percent with 16 turnovers in that stretch. Meanwhile, West Chester shot an even 50 percent. Â

Van Brakle connected on six of her 11 attempts and also added seven rebounds.
Celeste Robinson shot 5-of-10 for 10 points, and
Shelby Reimer chipped in 10 points and five boards.

West Chester has now won five in a row over the Marauders, matching its longest winning streak in the series which previously occurred from 1970-75. It was West Chester's sixth consecutive win over Millersville at home.

The Marauders return to Pucillo Gymnasium Saturday for a 1 p.m. tip against Mansfield.
