Erie, Pa. - The Millersville wrestling team faced two nationally-ranked teams Saturday, squaring off against No. 6 Lake Erie College before taking on fellow PSAC school and fourth-ranked Mercyhurst. Millersville fell 29-6 against Lake Erie with
Thomas Nulty and
David Wuestner able to register wins. Mercyhurst topped the Marauders by a 43-0 count.
Nulty controlled his match early and outscored the Storm's Alex Benedetti by a final of 9-3. Wuestner and Lake Erie's Evan Loughman battled to the end with Wuestner outlasting Loughman by a score of 8-6.
The Marauders fared no better against Mercyhurst. The Lakers entered the match with seven of 10 starters ranked nationally. In the 133 pound division,
Alex Baider wrestled tough but eventually fell 6-3 to Kevin Kinyua. The most competitive match of the night between the two sides was between the Lakers' Jamar Henry and Millersville's
Colton Dull. Dull went the distance with fellow 197-pound Henry but came up just short losing, 6-5.
Millersville looks to bounce back Friday, Jan. 8 at Pucillo Gymnasium at Gannon.
