Four wrestlers recognized as NWCA Scholar All-Americans

MANHEIM, Pa. — Matt Morris, Marcus Gable, Andrew Vogelbacher, and Bishop McCoy have been recognized as Scholar All-Americans by the National Wrestling Coaches Association based upon their academic and athletic achievements. 

To qualify for this award, individuals must meet one requirement from the following criteria: All-American at the 2025 NCAA Division II Championships and 3.00 GPA, National qualifier to the 2025 NCAA Championships and 3.25 GPA, or compete in four or more events and 3.5 GPA.

Academically, Morris (149) accumulated a 3.67 GPA in multidisciplinary studies and is a two-time Scholar All-American. Morris competed in seven bouts this season and posted a 2–2 record at the "Shorty" Hitchcock Open. The redshirt senior closes this chapter with a 21–31 record, 10 falls, and two major decisions. 

Gable, initially wrestling at 149 pounds, stepped up and competed at 157 pounds for the team. The true freshman made his debut at the Glenville State Invitational, posting a 4–2 record and placing sixth. He capped off his first season 12–12 and tied for lead the team in major decisions (4). Off the mat, Gable is a chemistry major who has a 3.82 GPA.

Vogelbacher (174) overcame adversity early in the season but finished strong. The redshirt junior concluded the season 9-7 with two major decisions, a fourth-place finish at the Super Region I Championships, All-PSAC Third Team recognition, and his first PSAC Athlete of the Week recognition. Vogelbacher is now a three-time recipient of the Scholar All-American award as he posts a 3.71 GPA, majoring in history. 

McCoy, the starter at 285 pounds, wrapped up his athletic career with a career-best 22-11 record. He placed fourth at the Super Region I Championships and logged 11 falls, including his career-fastest fall in 1:00, along with two major decisions. McCoy is ranked ninth in program history with 22 career pins. Academically, McCoy added another award to his resume as he is now a three-time recipient of the Scholar All-American honor. The redshirt senior has accumulated a 3.52 GPA in his major of applied engineering.
