Beatty and Cottone take on Division II NCAA Championships

ABOUT THE MATCH

  • Bryce Beatty and Nick Cottone will travel to Indianapolis, Ind., to compete in the Division II NCAA Championships. In this elite championships competition, the top three wrestlers in every weight class in their respective region, punched their ticket to the NCAA championships. To qualify for this tournament, in the super Regional, a wrestler must place in first, second, or third place to move onto the national stage. 

ABOUT BRYCE BEATTY

  • Beatty has been a four-year starter for the black and gold at 125 pounds. In 2024, Beatty had a fourth place podium finish at the Super Regional I. Not the desired result as he fell one sport short of his first NCAA berth. This year he had his best overall season yet, posting a 21-8 record and his first punched ticket to the tournament.
  • Throughout the 2025 season, Beatty had three technical falls and four falls. He logged his career fastest fall in 0:46 against Caden Delwarte Fairmont at the Gannon Quad.
  • Beatty started the season 10–0 and claimed first place at the Glenville State Invitational. He is currently on a three-match win streak with the most previous wins over Daniel McLaughlin from AIC (TF 15-0), Joshua Jasionowicz from ESU (8-7), and Brent Bosley from Wheeling (3-1).
  • Beatty's first opponent is No. 3 Jaxson Rohman from Augustana. Rohman posts an 18-4 record alongside his ranking to be seeded in the tournament. 

ABOUT NICK COTTONE

  • Cottone is a redshirt freshman, in his first year wrestling as a Marauder, he was able to punch his ticket to the NCAA Championships. Through his hard work on the mat, Cottone boasted a 19–6 record with four falls, three technical falls, and four major decisions. His fastest fall was in 1:41 against PSAC opponent Thomas Fierro from ESU.
  • Cottone tallied the third most wins on the season with 19, though the job is still not finished. He is currently tied with the most major decisions this season with four.
  • Cottone's first match is against Sabian Russel from Quincy. Russell posts a 30–7 record. If Cottone tops Russell, his next match will be against No. 8 Johnny Lopez from San Francisco State. Lopez has 23 victories and two losses on the season.

SERIES HISTORY

  • In 2024, Millersville had a program-high of five Marauders perform at the NCAA Championships. The team had two new qualifiers at 125 and 141 pounds compete nationally.
