
Allen, Madison, Daley, Hower and Myers Take Last Chance to Improve NCAA Provisional Qualifying Efforts

University Park, Pa./ Meadville, Pa. – Vanessa Hower and Amanda Myers traveled to University Park looking to improve their NCAA provisional marks in the hammer throw and javelin at the Jim Thorpe Invitational. Kiara Allen, Erin Madison and Abigail Daley placed first, first, and third, respectively at the 10th Annual Gator Invitational at Allegheny College.
Myers had her best heave measured at 142-11 that ranks her 19th in the NCAA after Friday's meets. Hower tossed a season best distance of 171-10 in the hammer throw.
Madison took home first-place with a school record and Frank B. Fuhner Field Stadium record time in the 400-meter hurdles. Madison crossed the finish line at 59.77, which marked a .89 improvement over her previous best NCAA provisional qualifying time established at Bison Outdoor Classic on April 12.
Kiara Allen posted a blistering 11.76 in the preliminaries of the 100-meter dash. The recorded time was a personal best for Allen as she followed it up crossing the finish line first in the 100-meter finals. Allen was clocked at 12.02 and the mark broke the Frank B. Fuhner Field Stadium record.
Sophomore Abigail Daley produced a third-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Daley was clocked at a respectable 11:20.28 in the grueling event. The Clarksburg product's season-best time of 10:58.31 ranks her 35th in Division II.
The five athletes with provisional marks will find out if they qualify for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships on Tuesday.
