
Allen, Madison and Myers Qualify for 2015 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships

Indianapolis, Ind. – The Millersville track & field team will be well-represented at the 2015 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships as it had Kiara Allen (100-meter dash), Erin Madison (400-meter hurdles) and Amanda Myers punch tickets to Allendale, Mich.
Kiara Allen won the 100-meter dash preliminaries with a time of 11.76 at the PSAC Outdoor Championships and that mark was the 17th fastest in Division II. Her qualification marks the second consecutive appearance in the national meet as she will be one of 24 athletes competing for a national championship on May 21-23. The junior's preliminaries are scheduled for Thursday, May 21 at 6:10 p.m., and if she qualifies for the finals, Allen will run on Saturday, May 23 at approximately 3:25 p.m.
Erin Madison qualified for the 400-meter hurdles for the second time in her collegiate career. She just missed out on qualifying last season do to tiebreakers. Madison re-broke her school record in the event at the 10th Annual Gator Invitational and was clocked at 59.93. At the Outdoor Track and Field Championships in 2013, Madison placed sixth in her heat but didn't qualify for the finals. Preliminaries for the 400-meter hurdles are set for Thursday, May 21 at 7:40 p.m.
In the javelin, Amanda Myers produced four NCAA provisional qualifying standard distances during her rookie season. Myers had her championship qualifying heave travel 43.57 meters at the Jim Thorpe Open. The freshman is set to compete in the javelin finals on Saturday, May 23 at approximately 11 a.m.
For the hammer throw, Vanessa Hower (52.39 meters) and Ann Kovacs (51.53 meters) had provisional marks. However, the top 21 distances in the nation were selected and neither Hower nor Kovacs made the cut. Abigail Daley had a provisional qualifying time in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:58.31), but her mark was just over 10 seconds slower than the 20th qualifier.
The championships will be held May 21-23 in Allendale, Mich. at the Grand Valley State University Track and Field Complex and will be live streamed by NCAA.com each day.
