
Madison Becomes an All-American and Myers finishes 13th at NCAA Championships

Allendale, Mich. - Erin Madison finished in eighth place in the 400-meter hurdles finals and Amanda Myers had an outstanding performance in the javelin throw on Saturday, May 23 at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Madison automatically qualified for the finals with her second-place finish in the second heat of the preliminaries on Thursday afternoon with a recorded time of 1:00.80. The junior shaved .83 off her prelim time as she crossed the finish line at a blistering 59.87. The winning time in the 400-meter hurdle finals belonged to Tia-Adana Belle who finished the event in 57.45. The Saint Augustine hurdler entered the championships as the top-ranked athlete in the event after being nationally recognized for eight consecutive weeks.
Madison's junior season was one for the record books. The Pocono Mountain East product became the Marauders first outdoor All-American hurdler and re-broke her school record in the event on Saturday, May 8 at the Alleghany Gator Invite with a 59.77 mark. Madison garnered All-PSAC finishes at the Outdoor PSAC Championships in both the 100-meter hurdles (second) and the 400-meter hurdles (first).
Amanda Myers capped off an exceptional freshman season with a 43.36 meter toss at the Grand Valley State Track and Field Stadium. Myers' top heave came in the second attempt as she had a 42.22 meter mark in her first throw and a 42.17 meter toss in her third and final heave.
The Red Lion product punched her ticket to Allendale, Mich. on May 8 at the Jim Thorpe Invitational with a throw of 43.57 meters. Myers finished 13th championships beating her 19th place seed and was just one position shy of second team All-American accolades.
