East Stroudsburg, Pa. – The Millersville women's track and field team is getting set for the PSAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships in East Stroudsburg, Pa. from April 30-May 2.
Of Millersville's qualified athletes four have earned themselves NCAA provisional marks and that list includes Erin Madison (400-meter hurdles), Ann Kovacs (Hammer Throw), Vanessa Hower (Hammer Throw) and Amanda Myers in the javelin.
Madison's NCAA provisional time came at the Bison Outdoor Classic where she finished third in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:00.66. The mark re-broke her school record in the event and is currently the top 400 hurdles time in the PSAC. Madison will also be competing in the 100-meter hurdles after qualifying for the event at the Millersville Metrics.
Arianna Camel will join Madsion competing in the 100-meter hurdles. Camel owns the top Marauder time of the season in the event after crossing the finish line second at the East Stroudsburg All-American Meet with a time of 14.84. Camel will also compete in the high jump as her 1.58 meter mark ranks 10th best in the conference.
Kiara Allen owns the fastest 100-meter time in the entire PSAC at 12.02. The redshirt junior comes into championships season on fire as she recently won the 100-meter dash at the Paul Kaiser Classic with a 12.05 recorded time. The effort marks the third consecutive meet in which Allen has ran a sub 12.10 time. The Central Dauphin product is also set to compete in the 200-meter dash where she finished seventh a season ago.
Allen, Camel, Jessica Fritsche, and Courtney Ingold will be competing in the 4x100-meter relay. Abigail Daley will be running in the grueling 3,000-meter steeple chase. The Marauders will also be running in the 4x800-meter relay.
The Black & Gold feature a two-headed monster of hammer throwers and they will be bringing them both to the PSAC Championships. Ann Kovacs and Vanessa Hower rank fourth and fifth in the conference with tosses measuring 51.53 meters and 51.30 meters, respectively.
Freshman Amanda Myers is in the midst of a sensational freshman campaign and comes into the championships on the heels of wining the javelin for the first time in her collegiate career. Myers had previously racked up two top-3 finishes prior to her first place finish at the Paul Kaiser Classic. The Red Lion product had her top throw travel 41.89 meters.
Erin Harman finished second in the pole vault at PSAC Indoor Championships with a record setting vault of 3.56 meters. Harman carried the momentum over to the outdoor season vaulting 3.50 meters at the ESU All-American meet, which broke the Millersville school record in the event. Harman's mark of 3.50 meters ranks fifth best in the PSAC.
Action from East Stroudsburg will get underway on Thursday, April 30 at 11 a.m.
