MATCH OVERVIEW• After hosting No. 7 Mercyhurst on Friday, the Marauders welcome No. 14-ranked Kutztown on Wednesday. Kutztown is coming off of an impressive 21-16 win over No. 8 Lake Erie and is 3-1 against PSAC competition this season. The Marauders have lost five of six duals and at 6-7 with two duals remaining, the Marauders must win its last two to finish above .500 for the first time since 2008-09. Millersville dominated the early years of the rivalry, winning 31 of the first 38 duals, but Kutztown has won the last eight. Last season, Kutztown won by a 31-9 score. However, the only Marauder to compete in last year's dual was
Thomas Nulty, who wrestled at 133 last season. Kutztown has had plenty of roster turnover since last season as well, returning four starters. Kutztown is ranked No. 3 in Super Region 1.
• Millersville's
David Wuestner has been an outstanding rookie at 285 pounds. He's one of only two Marauder heavyweights since 2006 to win at least 15 matches. In fact, only Bradd Ladd (2012-13) and Wuestner are the lone Marauder heavyweights to post records over .500 in the last 10 years. Wuestner has dropped three consecutive dual bouts, though, and has his hands full in Ziad Haddad. Haddad is 20-0, ranked No. 1 in Division II, and the reigning national champion. Haddad was named the Division II wrestler of the year. He has won 45 consecutive matches dating back to the 2013 NCAA Championships, where he finished fourth.
• Millersville will be without the services of 23-match winner
Ian Shannon for the third consecutive dual.
Shane Ruhnke will stay in place at 157 pounds, where he is 9-3 in duals.
Seth Decker and
Brock Thompson, both natural 157 pounders, will wrestle at 165 and 174. Decker is 6-6 and 0-1 in duals while Thompson is 5-8 and 0-2 in duals.
