EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. - The Millersville wrestling team traveled north to face East Stroudsburg in its second PSAC dual of the season, ultimately falling 24–20 despite a late comeback effort. The Marauders briefly held the lead entering the final match, but the Warriors secured the victory with a strong finish at 149 pounds.
Competition opened at 157 pounds, where sophomore Richie DeFulvio narrowly dropped an 8–7 decision after battling back from an early deficit. Millersville responded with consecutive wins, as Chase Bish earned a 7–5 decision at 165 pounds and Mitch Bivona followed with an 8–2 victory at 174 pounds. "Mitch's win at 174 was major. He wrestled a great match," said Head Coach Jerry Boland.
East Stroudsburg regained momentum at 184 pounds with a 15–4 major decision over Cole Dubois. Redshirt freshman Jaxon Townsend then delivered one of Millersville's biggest highlights of the night at 197 pounds, securing a reversal and pin at 4:25 to put the Marauders back in front. "Jaxon's pin was huge," Boland said. "After being out of the lineup last match, he showed he can come up big when we need it."
The Warriors responded with falls in the heavyweight and 125 pound bouts, extending their lead. Millersville entered the 133-pound match trailing 19–12, but Nick Cottone quickly closed the gap with a tech fall at 4:57. At 141 pounds, Taylor Robinson earned a hard-fought 3–1 decision, putting the Marauders ahead by one point. "We knew going into 133 that we needed to win the last three matches to take the dual," Boland noted. "Cottone stepped up by maintaining a strong pace, and Taylor followed by gutting out a tough win."
The dual was ultimately decided at 149 pounds, where Daniel Sinclair took an early lead with a takedown but was unable to hold off a Warriors reversal and subsequent scoring surge. East Stroudsburg closed the match with a tech fall to secure the overall team victory.
"Overall, it is a tough loss," Boland said. "With a young team, sometimes this can happen. We do not have to accept it, but we have to live with it and learn from it. I believe in our guys."
With the loss, Millersville moves to 2–1 overall and 1–1 in PSAC competition. The Marauders now enter a break before traveling to Indianapolis for the prestigious Midwest Classic on December 13.
