· Millersville women's golf enters the PSAC Championship on Saturday with three consecutive tournament victories and looking very much the part of championship contender. California (Pa.) has been the dominant women's golf program in the PSAC, winning five of the seven championships contested since its inception in 2008. Gannon won in 2011 and 2013.
· The upstart Marauders have won three of the four tournaments they have played, finishing higher than 15 of the 16 PSAC programs they have faced in tournaments. The only team to post a finish better than Millersville this season was Seton Hill, which clipped the Marauders by four shots in the season-opening Evann Parker Memorial. Millersville has since seen the Griffins in two tournaments, finishing higher both times.
· Millersville is only in its sixth season with a women's golf program, and the 2014 finish of seventh was its best-ever finish. The Marauders also tied for seventh in 2013. Despite not having much past success, this 2015 group is a much different Marauder team. Last season, Millersville shot scores of 346 and 339. This season, Millersville has not shot a score higher than 336. Millersville's 325.7 scoring average is second-best in the conference only to California's 323.3. Millersville has not seen California in a tournament in 2015.
· Golfstat.com has Millersville ranked as the No. 2 team in the PSAC heading into the tournament. California (Pa.) is the favorite, ranked 43rd in Division II. Of the seven players on California's roster, only one (Mercedes Epondulan) played her high school golf in the United States. Only two golfers on the roster were in the lineup for last season's PSAC Championship win. Carla Maestre has the team's best scoring average at 78.3.
· Individually, Jaimie Wharton is coming off of a tournament win, but freshman Danielle Greene and Shannon Weber also tied for first at the Ohio Valley Invitational. Danielle Freed, Kendal Olear and Jennifer Gentry also have medaled in their careers, giving the Marauders six golfers with first-place finishes. Weber's 78.7 scoring average is best on the team, and she owns four top-four finishes this season. Wharton has three consecutive top-10 finishes and an 80.9 scoring average.
· The best-ever individual finish by a Marauder was Wharton's sixth-place finish (+17) in 2015. Wharton placed 13th as a sphomore and 26th as a freshman. Last season's PSAC Championship was one of only two career tournaments in which Weber has finished outside the top 10. She tied for 28th (+31).
