Men's Golf Wins Messiah Invitational for Second Time in Three Years

Harrisburg, Pa. - Powered by Robert Coyne's second-place finish, the Millersville men's golf team won the Messiah Invitational for the second time in the last three years. The Marauders edged hosted Messiah by three shots at the par-72 Blue Ridge Country Club.
The tournament served as the Marauders' final tune-up before the NCAA Atlantic/East Super Regional. For the Marauders to challenge for a berth the national championships, they need Coyne to play well, and the 2013 national qualifier posted his best round of the spring in less than ideal scoring conditions. Battling the wind, Coyne posted a 6-over-par 76, which was three shots out of first.
Three other Marauders finished in the top 15. Conor Gilbert placed 11th with a 7-over-par 79. Jonathon Heile tied for 12th with an 80, and Kevin Davis posted an 81 and tied for 14th.
The team win was Millersville's third of the season. The Marauders compete in the regional at Edgewood Country Club in Charleston, W.Va., frmo May 5-7.
