Marauders Fifth in Tightly Packed Field

Indiana, Pa. - With ideal scoring conditions, Millersville men's golf posted an opening round 294 at the Cecil C. Spadafora Invitational and stand admist a tightly packed group in fifth place.
The Marauders enter Monday's final round just four shots behind second-place California (Pa.), but nine teams are within five shots of the Vulcans. Indiana (Pa.) used its home course advantage to race to a 16-shot advantage over Cal.
IUP's Max Kirsch shot the low round of the day at 5-under-par 66. Twelve players shot even-par or lower. Millersville's Robby Rowe posted a 1-over-par 72, which put him in a tie for 13th.
Scores were low throughout the field, and while teammates Conor Gilbert, Jonathon Heile and Kevin Davis each posted a 3-over-par 74, they all closed the day in a tie for 33rd. Davis' round was his best of the season. Robert Coyne posted a 76 for 46th in the 96-player field.
Round two is Monday at Chestnut Ridge Golf Resort.
