WEST CHESTER, Pa. --- After finding themselves in second place going into Tuesday's second round of the Dr. Edwin B. Cottrell Invitational at Penn Oaks Golf Club, windy course conditions led to a rough day from the field for all Marauder golfers, dropping them to an eighth place finish in the tournament.
The day one leader for the Marauders was Max Pflieger, who has had a strong showing thus far in the spring season for the Marauders. On day one, he shot just two over par with a 72 and sat tied for third place amongst individual golfers. On day two, he shot 10 over par, pushing his total through two days to 12 over par and a twelfth-place finish in the tournament. This is Pfleiger's second consecutive Top-25 finish.
The only other Marauder to finish within the Top-25 was Logan Wagner, who was more consistent over the two days, one the opening day of the tournament he shot five over par and then added five more strokes to that performance with a 10 over par round today. His tournament total was 15 over par.
Other golfers who recorded rounds that contributed to the team score were Jake Shmonov, who shot 21 over par throughout two days; Josh Baker, who shot 23 over par; and Bo Meakim, who ended the 36-hole round at 25 over par, shooting 19 over par on day two.
Cole Duffy also recorded an individual score for the Marauders with 23 over par in the tournament.
The best individual score of the tournament belonged to William Hilton of West Chester, who shot four over par in the two days of play. No player recorded a score better than even par throughout both days on the course; it just goes to show the difficulty of Penn Oaks, especially when the weather is not favorable to the golfer.
Up next, the Marauders travel to the Husky Spring Invitational in Danville, Pa., this Thursday.
