Game Notes
· Saturday afternoon, Millersville (11-10, 6-5 PSAC East) fell to East Stroudsburg and dropped its third straight game for the first time since the end of the 2011-12 season. Carly Gallagher poured in a game-high 23 points, 16 of which came in the second half, on 6-of-13 shooting (3-for-8 from 3-point land) and made eight of her nine free throw attempts. The redshirt junior also had six rebounds, three assists and one steal. Shelby Reimer was the other Marauder in double-figures with 11 points for a third-straight game. Celeste Robinson was in foul trouble all day and finished with just five points as she was 1-of-3 from the field and 3-for-5 from the charity stripe. Millersville is now 1-4 on the season in contests decided by five points or fewer. Their last four losses have come by a combined total of nine points.
· The Marauders have dominated the all-time series with the Mountaineers 60-3 and have taken the last 14 straight between the two teams. During that 14-game stretch, Millersville has outscored the Mountaineers by nearly 23 points per game (68.4-45.6). Mary Fleig has never lost to Mansfield inside Pucillo Gymnasium (24-0).
· After scoring only five points at East Stroudsburg, Celeste Robinson's streak of consecutive games in double-figures was snapped at eight games. Robinson has been held to single-digit points only five times in 20 games played this season. The Jim Thorpe, Pa. native is still fourth in the PSAC and 25th in the nation in field goal percentage at 55.9 percent. In her last three games against the Mountaineers, Robinson has totaled 30 points, 20 rebounds, eight steals, seven assists, and three blocks. The sophomore guard shot 13-of-23 (56.5 percent) from the floor in those three contests.
· Adding onto the last time these two teams met earlier this season, the Marauders opened the game on a 13-2 run fueled by all five of Gallagher's points. Mansfield battled to cut the margin to six twice but that is the closest the Mountaineers would get. Millersville led by as many as 21 in the first half and did so heading into the intermission. The Marauders dominated in several statistical categories. This includes rebounds (50-27), defensive rebounds (34-19), bench scoring (41-14), points in the paint (50-18), fast break points (22-8), and blocks (7-1). Mansfield did go to the free throw line 40 times and made 31 of those attempts.
