GAME OVERVIEW•  A new-look Millersville Marauders wrestling team hosts the first of its nine home duals this season against PSAC foe Shippensburg. The Marauders have only three returning starters in the lineup to go with five true freshmen and first-year redshirt sophomore
Nick Haegele. Despite the youth, the Marauders started the season with a first-place finish at the Washington & Jefferson Invitational.
Aram Moffitt and
Thomas Nulty both won their weight classes. A total of 10 Marauders placed in the top six. Freshman
Ian Shannon and sophomore
Austin Camacci posted runner-up finishes. Freshmen
Nico Demetrio and
Shane Ruhnke were also impressive, pinning four opponents.
•   Millersville and Shippensburg last met on Nov. 26, 2013 with the Marauders scoring a 22-16 lead. Millersville, however, was helped by forfeits at two weight classes. Both teams have a very different look this season, though. Only Camacci and Moffitt wrestled in last season's dual for the Marauders and only Mark Lentz wrestled for Shippensburg. Millersville has a 32-24-1 lead in the all-time series with the last two meetings going in favor of the Marauders. Â
•   One key match-up is at 197 pounds between Moffitt and Jalal Paige. Paige kept Moffitt from a berth to the NCAA Championships by beating him 2-1 in the tiebreaker of the third-place match of last season's Super Region I Championships. The wrestlers are both sophomores. Paige went 11-9 last season while Moffitt went 19-15. Shippensburg's Cameron Throckmorton was a national qualifier in 2013 but wrestled only three matches at the end of the 2013-14 season.
•   Like the Marauders, Shippensburg will also send five true freshmen into the lineup. Of the 10 probable starters, Ship has no seniors and just two juniors. Shippensburg lost its first three matches of the season to York, The College of New Jersey and Waynesburg. Throckmorton produced the most successful day with a 3-0 record.
