Weekend Overview
  • Millersville volleyball enters this weekend with a 8-7 overall record including a 2-5 mark in PSAC play. Most recently, the Marauders were swept in straight sets by Shippensburg on Tuesday night inside Heiges Field House. East Stroudsburg has struggled as of late losing seven straight to drop its record to 4-11 on the season and 0-7 in conference action. Kutztown (8-6, 2-5 PSAC) has won three of its last four after dropping all four matches in its first league crossover of the season on Sept. 19 and 20.

Series History
  • Millersville has controlled the all-time series with East Stroudsburg (37-18) having won the last 12  meetings between the two teams. The last time the Marauders lost to the Warriors, it was 2008 and it took ESU five sets to get it done. The series between Millersville and Kutztown has been much tighter, though. The Marauders lead the all-time series by just one win, 25-24, and the teams split their two head-to-head meetings in 2013.

Ms. 1,000
  • Katie Lesinski joined Millersville volleyball's 1,000 kill club on Sept. 19 against Indiana (Pa.) and became just the eighth person to do so. She leads this team with 132 and now has 1,047 in her career which ranks sixth in the program's record book. The Schwenksville, Pa. is just seven away from passing Jaime Martzall and jumping into the top five. The senior outside hitter has also moved into third place on the career attack attempts chart with 3,153.

Freshmen Phenoms
  • This team has been fueled by a pair of freshmen in Erin Harman and Victoria Biggins. Harman is second on the team in kills with 121 and is hitting a blistering .204 so far this season. Meanwhile, Biggins has taken over the role as Millersville's lone setter and filled in quite nicely after the departure of Jessica Franz. The Plymouth Meeting, Pa. native is sixth in the league in assists with 470 and her 9.22 assists per set are ranked sixth as well. Among the eight incoming freshmen for this season, these two have played every set and two more have played at least 23 of them including Stephanie Kovacs (37) and Alexis Hamm (23). Kovacs is fifth on the squad in kills with 76.

Steady As She Goes
  • Defensively, Brooklyn Smith continues to do her thing and ranks eighth in the PSAC in digs per set (4.92) and ninth in total digs (251). On the program's record chart for career digs, the junior has climbed up to third with 1,421 in her career. When looking at the single-season charts, she already has the the third and ninth-most digs in a single season with 675 last year and 495 as a freshman in 2012.

Scouting the Warriors
  • The Warriors have been led by a pretty special libero in their own right. Maddie Hutchison is fifth in the conference in digs with 282 and sixth in digs per set at 5.13. Entering 2014, the Lake Orion, Mich. native was seventh on the school's career digs chart with 1,192. On the attack, Abby Welch is seventh in the league in kills (155) and Desiree Claxton is right behind her in eighth (151).

Scouting the Golden Bears
  • Offensively for Kutztown, it is led by four attackers with at least 100 kills including Danielle Van Buren (126), Audrey Stringer (117), Aly York (103), and Chelsea Braga (100). Stringer is also seventh in the PSAC in hitting percentage at .314 with those 117 kills to just 29 errors on 280 total swings. Handing out the assists for the Golden Bears is Anna Conti who is eighth in the conference in both assists (419) and assists per set (7.91).
