
Millersville Defeated By La Salle in Road Dual

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Millersville women's tennis team was on the road for the first time this season and despite claiming a win at No. 5 singles, the Marauders fell to Division I La Salle, 6-1.
Elizabeth Wagner battled Caitlin Coelho in No. 1 singles but came up short (6-2, 6-3). No. 2 singles pitted Tori Davis against Celesta Smith and the hosts took the decision (6-2, 6-0). Alexandra Heller took on Chloe Trave in No. 3 singles but lost (6-0, 6-3). Stefanie Fisher and Margot Tovia faced off in No. 4 singles with the Explorer coming out on top (6-2, 6-1). The lone victory for Millersville came in No. 5 singles when Maggie Karr defeated Madison Gillen (6-4, 6-2). Cecile Johnson of La Salle took the win by default in No. 6 singles.
No. 1 doubles was highlighted by Wagner and Davis for the Marauders against Coelho and Smith of the Explorers. The hosts took the decision (8-4). Heller and Fisher lined up against Trave and Tovia in No. 2 doubles but came up empty (8-2). Gillen and Johnson won No. 3 doubles by default. By taking all three doubles matches, La Salle earned the point for doubles play.
Millersville will take on Edinboro Oct. 4 at McComsey Tennis Courts with the start time slated for 4 p.m.
