California, Pa. - Millersville fell to California (Pa.) 3-1 and was swept in straight sets by Clarion in a rough second day of PSAC crossovers with the Western Division.

Millersville took on CalU and won a marathon first set but dropped the match in four (39-37, 13-25, 22-25, 18-25). The Black and Gold then squared off against an undefeated Clarion squad and the Golden Eagles record remained unblemished after a three-set victory (25-14, 25-22, 25-13).

The first set between Millersville and California took 76 points to decide, which is an NCAA Division II record for most points scored in a set for the 25-point format. The Vulcans opened the set on a 10-4 run and that was the biggest lead either team controlled in the first set. The Marauders fought back and eventually tied the score up at 14-14. Katie Lesinski sent home three kills and California tallied four errors to fuel the comeback. From that point on, neither team enjoyed a lead of more than two points. Millersville ended up taking the set 39-37.

The home team's attack was on point in set two as it posted a .278 hitting percentage. The visitors hit just -.029 to go with eight kills and nine attack errors. Millersville's only lead of the set came at 1-0 and the score was tied 2-2 before the hosts went on a 14-1 run to take complete control. California went on to win the lopsided second set, 25-13.

The third set was much more competitive as the Marauders hit .125 and the Vulcans topped that with a .200 hitting percentage. The Black and Gold led once at 8-7 but lost that lead two points later. Millersville tied the set three more times after that but could never take the lead in an intense third set. The home team took it by a score of 25-22.

CalU led the fourth set for the first 19 points before the Marauders tied it at 10-10. Rebecca Roman registered two kills in that stretch but California was its own worst enemy as six of Millersille's points came from errors by the home team. The last tie came at 16-16 but a 9-2 run by the Vulcans gave them the set 25-18.

Lesinski and Roman both accumulated 15 kills each. Jessica Franz set up the attack with 25 assists and 16 more came off the hands of Erika Smith. Five Marauders tallied double-digit digs including Brooklyn Smith (33), Taylor Smith (15), Erika Smith (14), Franz (12), and Lesinski (12). Mary Paul was a force above the net tallying nine blocks.
