Marauders Compete in Day One of PSAC Individual Championships

Bloomsburg, Pa. – The Millersville women's tennis team was in Bloomsburg Saturday afternoon competing in the PSAC Individual Championships. There were three Marauders in action in singles play and one advanced to the second round. The one doubles team was unable to advance past the first round.
Alexandra Heller defeated Allison Bean of East Stroudsburg 6-7 (4), 6-3, 10-7 in her first match. The senior didn't fair as well in the second round falling in straight sets to Hannah Pipkin of Kutztown, 6-0, 6-0.
Elizabeth Wagner fought valiantly against Rachel Wood of IUP in round one but fell, 7-6 (5), 7-6 (5).
The third Maraurder in the singles bracket was Tori Davis. Davis came up short against Oranza Carrillo of Edinboro 6-3, 6-1.
In doubles action, Wagner and Heller lost their first round match to Caroline Bristol and Courtney Thompson of Mercyhurst by a score of 8-1.
Next up, the Marauders return home to face the Fighting Owls of Harford Community College on Sept. 27. That match is slated for a 2:30 p.m. start.
