Cheyney, Pa. - The Millersville women's volleyball team defeated Cheyney in straight sets Saturday afternoon and leads the all-time series with the Wolves 38-0.
Millersville (14-12, 9-8 PSAC) swept Cheyney (5-23, 0-18 PSAC) with set scores of 25-13, 25-15 and 25-16. The Marauders have won nine of their last 11 matches and are over .500 in conference play for the first time this season. Millersville also overtook third place in the Eastern Division with the win.
The first set was Millersville's best as it posted a hitting percentage of .318 with 17 kills and three errors on 44 total attacks. The Wolves hit just .065 with seven kills and five errors on 31 attack chances.
The Marauders cooled down in the second set for an attacking percentage of .158 with 11 kills and five errors on 38 total swings. Cheyney was in the negative with a -.033 hitting percentage after it sent home five kills and committed six errors on 30 total attacks.
The away team sealed the match in the third set and posted a red-hot hitting percentage of .306 to go with 17 kills and six errors on 36 attack chances. The Wolves rounded out their night with seven kills and five errors on 30 total swings.
Kayla Wallace led the attack with a career-high 12 kills and a hitting percentage of .357. Jessica Franz registered 22 assists and Erika Smith added 21, one short of her career high. On defense, Brooklyn Smith accumulated 17 digs and Sydney Gallagher blocked three total attacks.
The Marauders travel to Shippensburg on Tuesday to take on the Raiders at 7 p.m.
